Duska Zagorac is a London-based writer, director, and producer of cinematic documentaries. She is drawn to stories revealing how narratives are constructed, power shapes perception, and truth becomes contested.
She was lead writer and story producer of the feature documentary THE LOST LEONARDO (Sony Pictures Classics), shaping the story behind the world's most expensive painting. She produced the feature documentary SHIPWRECKED: NIGHTMARE AT SEA (Netflix) about the 2012 Costa Concordia disaster and developed the documentary series DEPP V HEARD (Netflix) and SECRETS OF PRINCE ANDREW (A&E Networks/Channel 4).
As a writer-director, her short drama-doc hybrid LA APERTURA (Channel 4) premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won multiple international awards, including the Prix Europa. Her feature documentary PATRIA MIA (ARTE) premiered at Sheffield DocFest and won the Sguardi Altrove award for best international feature. She is currently writing and directing her next feature documentary, THE BAYESIAN THEORY.
Duska collaborates with production companies including Raw, Minnow Films, Fulwell, and Copenhagen-based Elk Film.
She began her career in Channel 4's Documentary Department and Jane Balfour Films, where she represented internationally renowned directors including D.A. Pennebaker and Viktor Kossakovsky. For more than fifteen years, she consulted for Creative Europe MEDIA, Europe's largest film development fund, and TorinoFilmLab.
Born in Sarajevo and educated in the United States, Duska moved to London in 1992 following the outbreak of the Yugoslav Wars - an experience that formed her interest in how truth is challenged and narratives shape the world.
